ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to prepare systematic and efficient measures for nature conservation and management in Moonseom Islet, and to clarify characteristics of distribution of plant resources in southernmost islands of Korean peninsula. The numbers of vascular plants were summarized as 57 families, 120 genera, 144 species, and 4 varieties, totaling 148 taxa. Of those, Pteridophyta were 5 families, 9 genera, and 10 species, and Coniferophyta were 1 family, 1 genus, and 1 species. Fifty one families, 110 genera, 133 species, and 4 varieties in endospermae composed of 45 families, 81 genera, 101 species, and 3 varieties in dicotyledonae and 6 families, 29 genera, 32 species, and 1 variety in monocotyledonae. Unrecorded taxa of the flora of Moonseom Islet were 14 families, 20 genera, and 20 species. The seven rare species, Arisaema heterophyllum Blume, Myrica rubra Sieb. et Zucc., Zanthoxylum coreanum Nakai, Elaeocarpus sylvestris var. ellipticus (Thunb.) H. Hara, Glehnia littoralis Fr. Schimdt, Orostachys iwarenge (Makino) H. Hara, and Ardisia pusilla De Caisne were investigated. The numbers of naturalized plants were 7 families, 11 genera, and 12 species.
